Several years ago Jim Meskan proposed to have a shoreline club fishing day to kick off the New Year with fellow club members. The rainbow trout fishing is usually good at this time of the year and when times get tough we will haul out our "slime rocket" floating powerbait and try to hook some triploid rainbows. We set up at Bradbury Beach and get some campfires going to keep warm and prepare some barbeque specialties for a hot lunch. It's a good time to spend with friends, tell hunting stories and plan upcoming club activities.
Weather was a little uncooperative (windy, cloudy and cool) and the lake level had been rising quite rapidly for a few days. Three boats fished with moderate success and no bragging size fish. A BBQ was held at Fred Young’s after fishing and there were about 25 in attendance. Chef Ike fired up the new club BBQ and cooked hamburgers and bratwursts for everyone. The new grill worked great! Lots of fine salads, desserts, etc. were furnished to round out the meal. Everyone had a good time, making it a successful and fun afternoon.
